Advanced Placement Exams

How the waiting list works . . .

The site re-opens on March 19th and allows students to cancel exams or add their names to the waiting list.  As students cancel exams, those cancellations are matched against waiting list requests on a daily basis.  For example, when a student cancels his AP English Literature exam, we review the database to see if anyone is on the waiting list for that exam.   If there is more than one person on the waiting list for AP English literature, we offer the exam to the first student on the waiting list.  Order on the waiting list is determined by the electronic date and time stamp.  Notifications are made by telephone.  The first person on the waiting list has 24 hours to decide if he/she wants to take the available seat in the exam.  If we don't receive a reply and payment for the exam within 24 hours, we offer the exam to the second person on the waiting list.

Important Information about AP Studio Art Exam Registration

Because of the extensive teacher support required to submit an art portfolio, we are limiting registration for the AP Studio Art exam to students who've been enrolled in an art class at MMSD during the 2009-2010 school year.   Any registrations for this exam will be matched against the student's class schedule to verify enrollment in an art class.  If there is no art class on the student's schedule, the exam registration will be cancelled and the fees returned to the student.

When Do the Exams Take Place?

Where Are the Exams Held?

With the exception of AP World Language exams all regularly scheduled exams (May 3-14) are held at the Alliant Energy Center's Exhibition Hall at 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way in Madison. Parking is free.

Students taking exams on the late schedule will be notified of the location of their exams by email.

At the request of the district's world language teachers, AP French, German and Spanish exams will be held at two different locations in 2010.  The east side location will accommodate students from East and Lafollette High Schools.  The west side location will accommodate students from Memorial and West High Schools.  Once the locations are confirmed for AP French, German and Spanish, students and their parents will be notified.

As in previous years, the computer-based world language exams, AP Chinese and AP Japanese will be conducted at the Doyle Administration Building, 545 West Dayton Street in room 207.
